Frequently Asked Questions

We will postpone your hire if the weather forecast predicts conditions beyond our chosen operational limits. Offshore that is: seas over 2m and/or winds over 20 knots. Inside in more protected waters, we can be a little more flexible.

Our business relies on the utilisation of our boats so, once a booking is made, we ask that you stick to it. If you must postpone or change the date please contact us to discuss options. If we agree to the change then we will hold your deposit for up to 3 months to allow you to rebook – after that you lose the deposit.

If you are a serial-offender we will ask you not to rebook until a couple of days before your next hire as we don’t want to be left with unused boats.

If you need to cancel you risk losing the deposit. If we are able to rebook the boat we will refund your deposit. If you cancel at short notice (within three days of the hire date) you will lose the full value of the hire – again, unless we can rebook the boat.

$35 for one year
$85 for three years

The Centre Cab has 15 rod holders – 6 across the cabin top, 3 on the back of the bait board and 3 along each of the gunwales at the stern, midships and on the bow.

The Bow Rider has 5 rod holders – 3 on the back of the bait board and one on each of the gunwales towards the stern.

They are all pretty sturdy so you can put downriggers, outriggers or midriggers on them.

The tinnies available for hire at Manly Wharf have just two lightweight rod holders at the stern.

We take a $200 deposit per day when you book the boat. We take the balance of the hire plus your bond within a day or two of your hire. We refund your bond less fuel (at cost) on the evening of your return or the next morning.

You will get an email after this refund is made breaking down what the costs of your hire were and what came off your card and was then refunded to your card.

The boats come with all of the mandatory safety gear you need. Remember kids under 12 need to wear a jacket when the boat is being operated so let us know how many kids and what ages and we will provide you with suitable kids jackets.

If you don’t have all of the other equipment you need for your trip on the water, we can hire you additional gear:

Water Sports Gear: including Tubes/Biscuits, Water SkisWake Boards and Knee Boardsare $50 each per day and they come with the required ropes and jackets. For $100 you can have any three pieces of equipment and just try them all out.

Fishing Gear: We hire two types of rod/reel combinations. We hire collapsible Shimano rods suitable for wetting a lazy line or for getting the kids first fish. We also hire 6′ Ugly Stick Gold fitted with Finn Nor Lethal reels. They come spooled with mono line and if you don’t have a tackle box we can also provide you with a basic box of tackle that contains weights, hooks, swivels and a couple of basic tools. Each rod is $30 per day.

Bait: usually people bring their own bait – most tackle shops and servos stock bait. If you are caught short let us know and with a little notice, we can usually provide you with some bait.

Cray Gear: we can also hire you a cray trap and gear (bait bag, float, weight, rope and cheat sheet) which can be fun to set at the start of your trip and then pick back up on the way in. The Cray Trap is $30 per day.

Daytime fishos are welcome to take a bait trap and gear (float, weight, rope and cheat sheet) to help get some live bait and if you take the boat for a night fish we can provide a squid light and battery. We can also provide a berley bucket to hang over the side and a sea anchor if you want to slow the drift over your favourite spot – great for the artificial reef off south head! We don’t charge for these but please be sure to mention that you want one when you book your boat.

A standard day starts any time after sunrise and ends at 4pm (or before).

Actual morning meet-times are confirmed on a first in best-dressed basis as we sometimes have to accommodate multiple launches or launches at different ramps.

When you book you can request your preferred meet time and of course, between the time of booking and the day of your hire you can request changes to the meet time. We try our best to accommodate these requests but ask that you are a little flexible.

You can extend the start-time and end-time of your hire by the hour for $50/hour, subject to availability of the boats and of our staff. Remember your boat may be out on a night hire or a boat licence course prior to or after your hire. Our staff may be booked for launches and retrievals which may limit the ability to extend your hire.

Extensions and departures prior to sunrise are possible but per our arrangements with NSW Maritime and AMSA you must have completed one of our free night operations courses. These courses run every month.

We put the boats on in a variety of places and we are continually growing the list.

Right now our main ramp is Roseville Ramp on Healey Way, Roseville Chase. Boats are available 7 days a week from this ramp including mid-week night hires and half day hires. See here for maps of locations.

Boats are also available from Akuna Bay for those wishing to access the area around Coal and Candle Creek and the lower Hawkesbury. Boats are available here on weekdays during summer and 7 days during the colder months.

We have recently added a Pittwater option running out of Bayview Ramp at Rowlands Reserve. Boats are available here on weekdays during summer and 7 days during the colder months.

Our smaller unlicenced tinnies are available 7 days from Manly Wharf via the guys at the Manly Kayak Centre.

You can, of course, hire the boats on trailers too, which allows you to tow them to the location of your choice.
